29 Jun Qatar boosts flights to Adelaide
Qatar Airways will increase flights into Adelaide from next month, as demand for both international and domestic travel continues to rise following the removal of COVID-19 restrictions.
The airline will boost its Doha to Adelaide service from three to five flights a week from July 1.
The increase will also allow for a similar boost for the Adelaide to Auckland route.
“As the world opens up, it is fantastic to see access to South Australia grow and to hear travel demand is booming,” Premier Peter Malinauskas said on Monday.
“More flights mean more leisure and business visitors, increased freight capacity and greater connectivity for our state to the world, helping grow jobs and our economy.”
Qatar Airways Vice President Jared Lee said the increase in flights was a positive sign for the travel industry, amid a healthy return of demand.
“The Australia and New Zealand region continues to be an area of strong growth for Qatar Airways,” he said.
Adelaide Airport Managing Director Brenton Cox said growth across both international and domestic networks was strong with the number of domestic flights to and from Adelaide now exceeding pre-pandemic levels.
